I usually don't mind a snow day or two in January, but by the time the mid-end of February gets here I am sick of winter and just ready for warmer weather. We had been lucky this year and made it through most of winter with no snow days. It was looking so good that I had already gotten the date, May 17th in my mind for the last day of school.
Last Tuesday everyone started talking about this winter storm coming. I really didn't want it to come. Then everyone was talking about the timing of the storm, which would come while we were in school. Schools started cancelling early Wednesday evening. We have a new Superintendent this year and I was starting to get worried that we would try to go into school and then I would not be able to get home. I was actually really shocked. Ste Gen is usually one of the first to cancel, but we were holding out on Wednesday evening. I had gotten everything ironed for Thursday when we finally got the call that school was cancelled.
I have to add in that Dave woke me up at 5:15 AM Thursday morning and then said, "Oh, that's right, you don't have school do you?" And then, I couldn't fall back asleep.....
Cancelling turned out to be a good thing because it wasn't much after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday that it started sleeting, hard.....it iced up very quickly down here so I was glad we were at home.
So I spent Thursday and Friday home with two WILD little boys! We had PJ days. We ate chips and guacamole and made brownies. We had a lot of fun playing, but man was I busy. These boys keep me on my toes! It was hard that we couldn't go outside either day. I think we all just needed to go outside and run around.
I really, really wish I could video Reese all day for you all to see. This little guy has so.much.energy! I usually have my phone nearby so I am able to snap quick pictures of his wildness. No one would believe it if I didn't. I have never seen anyone move so fast.
Standing on his firetruck and eating snacks out of his snack bowl....Max enjoys what he drops.
Playing hide and go seek with me during one of his still moments.
He pulls the blanket off and cracks up laughing.
Using the Dino to help him reach toys on the higher shelves
Standing on his chair to turn the utility room light on and off
Getting inside his shopping cart.....he stood up in it before I got him out
Climbing on tables is a favorite.....he was using the intercom on Dane's cash register as a telephone.
I was in the bathroom and could see Reese so I asked Dane to help Reese and he climbed up with him and gave him a hug and a kiss.
Enjoying his nutrigrain bar and some of Mommy's scrambled eggs
On yet another table....he always smiles when I go to get him down.
One day after lunch I cleaned Reese up and got him out of his high chair. I was cleaning Dane up and I turn around and Reese is sitting on the dinning room table shoving all of Dane's left over lunch into his mouth as fast as he can.
Another time I was making guacamole and I turn around to find Reese on the dining room table taking my centerpiece apart.
Then he crawls up in my lap and falls asleep in just a few seconds.
Dane is so funny. He is really, really calm compared to Reese. He even said to me one day, "Now that Reese is taking a nap can we lay on the couch, snuggle, and relax?"
He played the guitar for a little bit.
He made my coffee table the garage for all of this cars and trucks.
Dane was so confused. This looks like snow, but it was ice. We would walk across it and not even leave a footprint. Dane really wanted to build a snowman and was upset when he couldn't pick up any of the ice.
We enjoyed our days together, but honestly just want winter to move along and for it to be summer time!
This picture is from last Wednesday. I dropped Dane and Reese off at daycare at 7:20 and Dane was super excited about the dress up clothes that Tracey had out. At 7:35 Tracey sent me this picture of Dane dressed as a Transformer.
