More Summer Fun!

We spend the night at my parent's house last Monday night and Tuesday morning we got up early to head to Susson Park.  My mom went with us and we also picked up my grandma.  Dane loves animals, so he really liked being able to walk around and look at them up close.  We got there early so it wasn't too crowded or too hot.

While Dave and Dane checked out the animals Reese enjoyed a nice ride in the stroller.

After the trip to the park we went to lunch and then took the boys back to my mom and dad's house for a nap.  They both took long napsfor Dave while I went to do some shopping with my mom and Katie.

Once they were well rested they were ready for some evening fun.  It was Robinson Elementary Night at the Magic House.  Aunt Amy invited us to join the fun.

Dane ran around and did so many things.

Climbing on rocks

Going down the slide

Sweet Laney always stopped to play with Dane.

Going fishing

Dane really wanted to climb the beanstalk (I think that is what it was)
I told him he had to go with Laney or Trey because I wasn't really sure if he would make it.

He loved it!

Outside at Construction Zone

While Dane ran all over my mom took Reese to the area for babies 0-24 months.  It was practically empty so they hung out there for a while.

These blocks were really big, but they were really light.  It was funny because Reese would pick them up and chew on them and they were bigger than his head.

Can you tell he is totally teething?  Drooling and chewing on everything!

I wish it was always this quiet and calm in this area.

The boys were exhausted.  Reese fell asleep before we left the Magic House parking.

It was a fun two days and start to summer!

Our First Summer Activity

Dave took off a couple of days last week and we all spent the first few days of summer break together.  We left Monday morning and went to Kirkwood.  Dave, Dane, Reese, my mom, and I had lunch at a bakery in Downtown Kirkwood and then headed across the street to the Amtrak Station.  We bought tickets to ride the train from Kirkwood to Downtown St. Louis.

Dane was so excited!  He loves trains!  Many times we take the long way home from daycare in the afternoon just so we can see the trains.

We had some time to hang out after lunch before the train came.  Aunt Katie came up to come see us before we left.  Dane was telling Katie about getting ready to ride the train.

It was a beautiful day and Dane loved being outside.

The area around the train station is really pretty so we walked around a bit.

About 1:30 we watched the train pull up.

Dane seemed a little in shock to see the big train so close.

He held Mama's hand and watched like he couldn't believe it!

Then came a BIG smile!

Dane waved goodbye to Aunt Katie and got ready to get on the train.

Reese was too tired to be excited!

There was a big step to get on the train, so Daddy helped Dane.

We rode the train down to the Downtown St. Louis station and then walked over to Union Station.  Dane feed the fish.

He was making me so nervous, but he loved it.

We had actually hoped to ride the paddle boats at Union Station and walk around.  Honestly though, there wasn't much there.  The paddle boats were closed.  A lot of stores were closed.  We did watch the guys sing at the Fudgery and get a piece of fudge to take home.

Papa came down to pick us all up and we headed back to Kirkwood!  A fun activity for the start of summer!

A Trip to the Lake Forest Beach

I have a big list of things I want to do with the boys this summer.  There are some things that I am sure we will do many times and some things that we may not get to do at all.

Last weekend it was pretty warm and since the pool wasn't open yet we decided to go down to the beach and let the boys play.
I brought some sand toys that kept Reese entertained most of the time.

Dane brought his life jacket and he was ready to go in the water.
I can't believe how big he looks here.
Dave said the water was pretty cold, but Dane had fun jumping around in it.
He swam out to Daddy and they played in the lake for a bit.
Cute, little, sandy baby feet!
The only downfall to the trip to the beach was trying to wash sand off two little boys!
They both loved it though, so I am sure we will take more trips to the beach this summer.
