Saturday was our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt. I was in charge of it and I was so worried about it. I found out a while ago that Dave would have to work. That meant I would be in charge of the food, the hunt, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and both boys by myself. I finally recruited my neighbor, who is also my good friend from school. We had the perfect plan. We would meet Friday night and decorate. Saturday morning we would meet and hide the eggs, then during the Easter Party Grace would take care of the food and pictures, her high school daughter would take care of Reese, and I would take care of Dane.
Thursday morning about 8:30 Dave text me and tells me he has to work 7 am- 11pm Friday. There went my plan to decorate Friday night. I just figured we would have to do it Saturday morning. Then about 9:15 Thursday morning Grace came to my classroom door in tears. Her mom has been sick and they had just called her and told her they were taking her off life support. She was leaving for Springfield, MO immediately. I felt so bad for her.
Then I tried to figure out what I was going to do. Friday after school I ran and picked up the fruit tray, donuts, and milk for the party. I met a friend of mine at the Lake Forest Community Center and her and her daughter played with Dane and held Reese while I took the food into the community center and gathered all of the paper supplies for the party. We then decided that her daughter would come help me on Saturday morning (She had Kindergarten screening at school so she wasn't able to come). It turns out that Lauren was the perfect little mom's helper. She helped me so much on Saturday.
Saturday morning we got up and ready for the Easter Party. I kept telling Dane that Lauren was going to help him and he seemed fine with it. I asked him if he wanted to see the Easter Bunny and he said, "I don't like bunnies mom."
Lauren was a life saver. I got things ready inside and she headed down to the Lake Forest Park to hide all of the eggs for me. Once she came back inside she played with Dane while I finished getting things ready.
Dane was ready for the egg hunting to start.
The bunny looking at all of the eggs!
It was a beautiful day and we had a great crowd!
The kids all had a list with what eggs they had to find...2 purple, 1 blue.......
Laruen and Dane were off!
He did such a good job with her and had such a good time.
Spotting an egg he needed at the top of the hill.
He was so excited to show me his eggs.
He looks a little concerned about the bunny, but he did want his picture taken.
However, when we were in Kirkwood Saturday afternoon he told my mom he wanted to see the Easter Bunny.
Dane and his helper for the day!
Since I was holding Reese as I ran around and took pictures I don't have any of him at the egg hunt.
He had a great time in Kirkwood Saturday afternoon. It was so nice he played in the exersaucer on Mama and Papa's deck.
