Mama, (My grandma), turned 85 on Friday, October 1st. My grandma is an amazing person. I have so many memories with her. She lived 10 minutes away when I was growing up. Every Wednesday my mom, grandma, and all of the kids would go shopping and out for lunch. Every Sunday she would wait in her car in the church parking lot for us to get there and we would all sit together in church. She would take each one of us for a week during the summer and we would have our week as an only child. She would fix all of our favorite foods, take us shopping and buy us special treats. It was so much fun. She would come to all of our dance recitals and softball games. She made holidays so nice. She would take us to the Pumpkin Patch, Lunch with Santa, Santa's house, Easter Egg Hunts, parades, dye Easter Eggs with us, make Christmas cookies, and so, so much more.
Now she continues many of these traditions with her great grandchildren. She cooks Christmas and Easter dinner for the ever growing family, now 19 people, with another little one coming in December. She buys Christmas gifts, makes stockings, and Easters baskets for EVERYONE! She asks for a Christmas List from everyone so she can get you exactly what you want. It is a little crazy. We try to tell her to just worry about the great grandchildren, but she thought that was a terrible idea!
When we were growing up my grandma always had the prettiest nails. Until recently I never knew that she always did them herself. She has never had a professional manicure. So on her 85th birthday we decided it would be a great girls day to go for manicures and lunch!
We went to Valley Park Nails. The girls got pedicures and mom and mama got manicures. She seemed to enjoy it. My favorite part is the leg or arm massage that they give you as part of your pedicure or manicure. Well that was mama's least favorite part...she said they were a little rough on her.
After leaving the nail salon we went to Red Lobster for lunch. Claire joined us for lunch.
